So the sun is out, it's warm and it finally feels like spring! So we have been inspired to do some 'proper' planting. The stuff under the cold frame is looking great (spinach, green onions, bok choi, arugula) apart from the lettuce which has managed to germinate about 4 plants. Tried a bit of impromptu reseeding, and moved the cold frame onto a new task.
Seeded various brasicas – some under the newly moved cold frame, some just in the ground, and some mixed brocoli starts from Chorus Frog Farm. Its a bit of an experiment to compare the relative growth (a totally unscientific experiment with no notes taken or scientific method of any kind!)
Also started some kale, red orach and walla walla onions…
Its been a funny old start to the year – cold and wet with temperatures close to freezing still at night – so if you have been struggling to get things started, check out the Chorus Frog Farm Stand on Rainbow Road – their greenhouse starts might be just what you need to get things back on track!
