Well, it wouldn’t be fair to report only the bad side of BC Ferries. So I feel it my duty to share a GREAT experience.
So, after my rather disastrous journey last time I allow PLENTY of time to get to Nanaimo ferry terminal. My first ferry is a few minutes late but I have lots of time. I cruise gently (and literally – I tried out the cruise control I hadn’t realised we had!) up to Nanaimo and arrive at 2.05pm – in plenty of time to collect my reservation for the 3pm.
Then at the ferry booth I get a surprise! There’s still room on the 2pm – would I like to go on that? Well, although the ferry is NOT in my ferry schedule, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth… I’m in!
So, even though this ferry is 30 minutes late arriving – I am still pleasantly ahead of my original schedule. Hurrah!
Just to prove it CAN happen – a rare great experience on BC Ferries…
Having to plan around ferries must add a whole new dimension to getting around so it’s great to have a positive experience.
Having said that, I Can’t say I’m looking forward to my first BC Ferries experience as good news seems to be somewhat lacking.
