So, a few things from Emma for a change!
1) Nice Wools. A man sidled up to me in the Supermarket. "Nice Wools" he said. I had to ask him to repeat his compliment before realising he was referring to the layering of my woollen sweaters! A cable knit in teal, followed by a cable knit cardigan in mottled brown and topped with a chunky knit with lots of bobbles in a light bright green. Oh, yes and my knitted brown sparkly scarf. I often get compliments on my giant bobbled sweater but no-one has ever complimented me on my "wools" before!
2) UFO visits. I was woken on a windy night by Dexter (our dog) who jumped up and woofed. I opened my eyes and saw the sky flash! Then again, and then for a third time – this time with my glasses on so I could see it was very blue and emanated from the ground, lighting up the sky. Then the power went out (so probably a generator blow out or something similar. I called up BC Hydro (the electricity company) to report the power outage – and I mentioned the blue flashes. He told me that the previous customer who had called to report an outage had ALSO mentioned the blue flashes. But had attributed the blue flashes to a UFO…
3) Got my goat? The wind brought down a large arbutus branch on our property. A lovely lady stopped by campaigning for Elizabeth May and spotted the arbutus. Excitedly she asked if she could take some of it away – as food for her goats. She has been back at least twice – apparently it is a favourite food…
As I said, "Only on Salt Spring."
Perhaps this will become a regular feature…
