It has always been in our plans to paint the cottage to match the house, but somehow we have never quite got there …. until now. So since last Saturday we have been hiring scaffolding, buying paint, balancing up ladders and generally getting messy. The first step was to paint the raw siding with a primer, which is a very attractive shade of grey – kinda the military academy look!
We planned an early start, but by the time I had picked up the scaffolding, assembled it, figured out how to get round the porch etc it was getting on. After a couple of hours of painting oil based primer in direct sun on a very hot day we were about 1/4 of the way down the first side and I was convinced that I would be painting the cottage for the rest of my life!
Luckily after stopping for lunch and waiting for the sun to go off things sped up a bit, and we got a couple of sides finished by the end of the day. We had plenty of left over veg biryani for some instant food and chill out in front of Game of Thrones that evening (so we could recharge ready for some more painting the next day…)
