After camping out in the cottage (again) while we built our new kitchen, the time came to welcome our first guests in the cottage (thanks to Kathy and Patrick for coming to try it out). As well as giving the cottage a good clean inside and out we decided that we needed to do something about the landscaping (or lack of it). Apparently bare earth, weeds and piles of cardboard are just not the in look this year.
So the cardboard was re-deployed at a 'weed suppression' layer together with some used coffee sacks and weed matting, and then it was off in the truck to get one and a half yards of bark mulch….
… and then again to get another load …
… and then to get a ton of gravel for a path (yes I know the truck is only a half ton, but its not far to Gulf Coast Materials!).
Finally it was all unloaded, raked into place, and we were pretty pleased with the result – there is plenty more landscaping to do, plants to put in etc, but at least it looks finished. Now all we need is a nice bistro set to put out in that sunshine.
We have some guests for the summer which will give us time to get a website up and running for the full bed and breakfast.
Wow yu guys, it looks GORGEOUS! Well done!
