Seedy Saturday!
Well, Duncan and I (and many others!) volunteered at this fabulous event.
What is Seedy Saturday? An annual event held at The Farmer's Institute and is:
- Primarily a Seed Exchange – bring seeds you have saved (that grow well locally) and swap with other people! Flowers, Vegetables, Herbs and more.
- The opportunity to ask questions of many experts from the various growing and gardening clubs.
- Buy seeds – from many MANY local seed companies – for example Salt Spring Seeds started by Dan Jason.
- Buy plants and growing related books.
- Eat yummy food supplied by Brigitte (an amazing French patissier), Elizabeth (yummy vegan and vegetarian goodies), Adam (sprout and mushroom grower – shiitake, not the other type…) and more!
- Workshops on growing, pruning and more!
We know a few people on the island now, so it was fun to bump into and catch up with them AND meet new friends. I've included a couple of photos below and there are more in the Seedy Saturday photo album! The photos below are David Miller – this year's Seedy Saturday organizer and the Seed Exchange table.
