I am sure everyone is as happy as we are to see some real summer weather here at last. The late arrival has meant that a lot of things are much later that we might expect. But the good news is that we are now getting loads and loads of berries ripening. We must have picked 20+ lbs of strawberries by now, and just as they are finishing (we do not have an ever-bearing variety) the loganberries are ready to pick. The tayberries are not far behind and we are looking forward to gooseberries. We have also had a few raspberries (these are not very well established yet) and some native berries from around the property.
Oh and not to forget the mountain of blackberries that looks like it will arriving to round the summer out. Its great to pick something straight from the garden that is delicious and packed with goodness! And Emma has made a number of strawberry pavlovas for various occasions, which are just fab. Here is a picture of her Canada Day treat!
Berry good indeed!
Ditto on the berry front. The strawberries Emma gave Anna are going very well and producing lots (considering we just put them in the flower bed and left them).
We’d be able to have a ton of great puddings if Anna didn’t eat each and every one as soon as it was ready right off the plant!!! I did manage to have 1 strawberry last night though and they’re tasting pretty darn good!
