OK so we haven’t updated this blog for …. err… over 8 years ?
But we have just wrested it off Typepad and onto WordPress without losing too much content, and hopefully that will be the inspiration for us to make a few updates.
Duncan and Emma’s Salt Spring Island Adventure definitely continues, and over the past 8 years we have:
- Spent some time back in the UK for various reasons
- Built Emma’s amazing online business, The Coaching Tools Company, into a worldwide staple of the coaching world.
- Built a garage/office to house our growing online business (and pool table, gym, parties) as well as other improvements to the house and property
- Run our B&B at Cosy Woodpecker Cottage for 5 years (we now have a friend living in the cottage long term)
- Built a greenhouse and grown more food (although less these days)
- Made more wine (although again not for a while)
- Travelled a bit (Hawaii, Tofino, Seattle, Venice, Whistler, Ghent, Reims, Skiing Trips, Bermuda, Singapore, Iceland)
- Rebuilt the Salt Spring Market website
- Spent time at the Manchester Buddhist Centre, been on retreat and deepened our spiritual practice.
- Duncan wrote a book (its still a sh*ty first draft, but maybe one day he’ll finish it)
- Taken part in a few Tough Mudders
- Started running and run many races (and even got a bit better at it!)
- Duncan also became a certified Website Usability professional
- Managed to keep the same car (although it’s on its second engine) and truck
- Seen live music (The Cult, Steel Panther, Dear Rouge, Greta Van Fleet, Crunch Mustard and more)
- Emma had knee surgery
- Bought our first ever boat with some friends
- Duncan joined the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 25 Saltspring – he is now a Coxswain after a lot of training and learning about boaty things.
- Sold the boat again after a couple of fun summers learning
- Eventually bought our second bigger better boat, and spent a lot of time on it this summer.
- Been through the pandemic with the rest of the world!
- Lost a few loved ones including Duncan’s Mum and Uncle, Emma’s gran and our beloved dog Dexter
- And we are sure, a lot lot more …
We are looking forward to filling in some of the gaps, adding more of our Salt Spring Island adventure, and maybe some other stuff as well!
See you soon
Emma & Duncan.
