A Day of Harvesting!
Sunday was spent clearing brambles, thistles, broom and other unwanted weeds, identifying the black-capped raspberries and collecting seed from them (a YUMMY native raspberry!) then seeing what was ready in the veg patch (see photo left) and finally picking blackberries for our wine plans!!
The weather was gorgeous, and I felt both tired and elated at the end of the day! It really is FUN and VERY satisying growing and picking your own food.
If you're thinking you don't know where to start or don't have room – just start with growing and maintaining your own fresh herbs. Basil (indoors unless Summer), Thyme, Rosemary and Sage are all hardy so can go outdoors/in a planter and be used all winter are all a good place to start. It's fun and makes your cooking taste EVEN better.
